Boiling Water and freezing Temperatures!

This week room 9 & 10 explored what happens to boiling water when it is thrown up in the air during very cold temperatures. We thought that since it is soooo cold out it would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. Before we headed out we talked about the scientific method.

Question:
What will happen when we throw boiling hot water in the air?

Hypothesis:
"The water will turn to ice"
"It might steam"
"It will turn to cold water"
"It will turn to warm water"
"Once it hits the ground it will turn to ice and make little holes"
"The ground below will turn to ice"

Procedure:

1. Boil water
2. Fill a mug
3. Go outside
4. Through water into the air!

The students decided that the water turned to smoke or steam.

Tomorrow is fun snack. Stay warm!
