A little from room 10!

The first official room 10 Girls Tea Party took place this week. This will be a time/space where the girls talk about how they are feeling in regards to friends and how we can be strong girls who lift other girls up. We will be reading a book together called The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes.

What do animals do in the winter?
Room 10 is researching the animals that live around here. We are wondering what do they do in the winter? We know that some migrate, some hibernate and some adapt. We started our research today by doing a class research study on the North American Buffalo. We learned that the Buffalo or Bison do migrate when it gets cold in search of food like grass and berries. We also learned about how the First Nations people used every part of the buffalo and only hunted them to survive. We then choose our own animals and looked closely at them, creating scientific sketches in our visual journals.

Two of our boys in room 10 are very eagerly making bracelets to sell for Cancer Research. This ideas was 100% driven from them. We are learning about giving to others and they decided that this is how they wanted to help others.

Food Bank: Maple Ridge is collecting for the Calgary Food Bank this year. We are accepting non-perishable food items to add to our Food Bank boxes.
